CYOA Finance Reflection
The finance chose your own adventure started out with a boom with a brainstorming worksheet and the creation of a storyboard comic. Then for the next day was the creation of the business, well actually we had two different options. We could either create a video about finance that teaches the viewer something or make your own business with a product and creating a business plan. My group and I decided to create a business and start the brainstorming what kind of products we could make, advertise and sell. We up with the idea of the armadillo which was a pillow to go on your arm which you could inflate. we realised that it was a horrible in india and the materials necessary were too expensive and wouldn't work. Wednesday was the day that we walked to von’s and looked at different strategies and products that used them if affective and not affective ways. We also looked a specific product and looked at how exactly it is valuable and how it is marketed. It was there that one of our group members lost the pencil and couldn't find it anyways. Thats when are group came up with the idea for what we call The Badger Band which was and wrist pencil career. On thursday we all brought materials into class and started creating The Badger Band. It came out to be a discreet black dirt band with elastic loops held together with velcro and hot glue with a flash drive attached to the side using velcro. It was no bigger than a watch and worked quite well in holding pencils and other miscellaneous school supplies and not limiting movement of your wrist. After creating it we went to MXN after lunch and looked at the similarities and differences between MXN business plans and strategies to Vons business plans and strategies. On friday we wrote the business plan as a group during the beginning of the day explaining how we get minerals, marketing , our target market and the company's next steps. After lunch we went and examined the food court on San Marcos Blvd. We discussed the pros and cons of having your business in a food court and also the ideal store you would want in a food court. The next monday we nominalised are business plan and prepared for the presentation to the class on tuesday. Then on tuesday we did our presentation of the work we had accomplished over the week and what we had created and it was a success.
I think the instance that struck me during the week was going to von’s and how we came up with the idea for our product. They say that necessity inspired innovations and i think that was what happened that day. That wasn't the first time my business partner had lost a pen or pencil and if you ask anyone else the to had lost a pen or pencil in there days and that was a problem that could be fixt. That problem inspired us to create a product and i think thats why it went so well, because we were trying to fix a problem. Another thing that struck me was the productivity of my group and me. We all seemed to be inspired to wanting to fix this problem. And at the end of it my group mate got his very own and first ever made Badger Band and hasn't lost a pencil yet (Hopefully).
